Mattresses

So you are ready to get a new mattress but you aren’t sure where to begin.  Its possible that this is the first mattress that you are buying, or perhaps it’s a second or third mattress.  Whatever the case may be, you need a new mattress.

This is the place to start your search.  Mattresses are a significant investment and the purchase of your next mattress should not be rushed.

Choosing a Mattress

Here are some key factors to consider when looking for your new mattress:

  • Size: What size mattress do you personally need?  How much space do you have in your bedroom?  Are you the only occupant?
  • Firmness/ Softness:  Do you need a firm or a soft mattress?  Are you suffering from lack of sleep or back problems?
  • Type of Mattress: Are you looking for a spring mattress?  Perhaps a mattress made of memory foam.  You may even be considering an alternative, such as an air mattress or a water bed.

No matter what your needs are, there is a mattress that’s right for you. And that’s the important part of mattress shopping, you need to find the mattress that is perfect for you.  It needs to have the right size, the right firmness, the right padding, the right price, and it needs to help you get the best sleep possible.  Mattress shopping requires just as much detailed research as car shopping.  And even then you need to keep an open mind for options that you might not have initially considered.

Advances in the Mattress Industry

Mattresses have clearly advanced in the past 100 years.  Gone are the days of straw stuffed sacks that barely hold together.  Gone are the days that your mattress was filled with horse hair.  Today’s mattresses, while we might not think about them extensively, have an incredible degree of design and thought behind them.  Inner-Spring mattresses have the springs placed precisely to better support the occupant’s spine and body, and many of the foam mattresses are made with new improved materials to offer more comfortable sleeping experiences and less overall movement of the mattress.  Some Mattresses are even made so that they last much longer than the normal 7 to 10 years. Mattresses have come a long way.

The down side of all the advances in mattress technology is that there are now hundreds, if not thousands of options on the market, and thousands of mattress retailers across the country.  America has over 9000 mattress retail store alone. Not to mention the huge selection of online retail stores as well.  There are so many options its easy to get overwhelmed and make a rash decision and buy the wrong mattress.

Buying the wrong mattress is one of the worst mistakes you can make. If you buy a mattress that’s too small, too firm, too soft, you will find yourself getting too little sleep. It cannot be stressed enough that the wrong mattress purpose can cause problems in your back, your respiratory system and even your circulatory system. Making the wrong mattress choice can have serious repercussions on your health and your wallet.

Every mattress is going to be different as is every person who looks to buy one.  No one mattress will be perfect for everybody.  You may need Memory Foam, you may need inner-spring, you may even need a hybrid mattress.  But whatever you need, you need a new mattress, and this is the place to start looking.
